چکیده

Cell Biology International (CBIN) is the official journal of the International Federation of Cell Biology (IFCB). During the last 16 years, it has been under the guidance of Prof. Denys Neville Wheatley. While we announce Prof. S ergio Schenkman as the new Editor-in-Chief (E-i-C), effective January 2015, we also express our profound gratitude for Prof. Wheatley’s tireless effort to bring CBI to its present state, which involved indexation, increased impact factor, expanded editorial board and support for manuscript preparation. Prof. Wheatley has expanded the geographical frontiers of Cell Biology while acting as IFCB Secretary General and as President. The vivid speech and devoted interest to preserve the broad scope of the journal and global coverage, particularly ensuring access from countries far from the major centers. For a long part of his journey as E-i-C, Prof.Wheatley was assisted byAngela Panther, who acted asCBINManaging Editor and to whom we also express our acknowledgment. Denys has broughtCBIN to the track and it will be our duty to determine its speed towards the future, in such a fascinating area of Science that is Cell Biology.

Background: Cell ability to recover from radiation damage is of great relevance in cancer treatment. It is often believed that the inhibition of cell ability to the liquid holding recovery (LHR) may be an indicator of the overall suppression of cell ability to recover from potentially lethal radiation damage. However, the literature contains no experimental evidence whether the LHR inhibition m...

Novel Isatin-based activator of p53 transcriptional functions in tumor cells

Bioinorganic medicinal chemistry remains a hot field for research aimed at developing novel anti-cancer treatments. Discovery of metal complexes as potent antitumor chemotherapeutics such as cisplatin led to a significant shift of focus toward organometallic/ bioinorganic compounds containing transition metals and their chelates as novel scaffolds for drug discovery. In that way, transition met...
